Juniors Class of '78

The Black and Gold 1977

Workshops frustrate but reward

The Juniors got off to a fast start to begin their second year at McKinley. With all their officers and senate members elected and with new class advisers and council appointed, the Class of ‘78 was more than ready to get down to business and make the most of the year.
Mindful of this, the Junior Council and its advisers immediately took action by scheduling two workshops designed to make the year more eventful and meaningful for their classmates.
The sometimes frustrating, but nevertheless rewarding, workshops discussed everything from financial reports to the role of class councils in relation to McKinley High School.

Juniors promenade in spring setting of Ilikai Ballroom

In the spring setting of the Ilikai Hotel the Class of '78 attended their Junior Promenade "You and I." On the evening of April 29, the juniors gathered at the hotel's Pacific Ballroom to commemorate the closing of their school year.
Candlelit tables, the romantic music of "Serenity," peach and orange favors with the fragrance of lei in the air captivate the prom-goers' moods. A semiformal affair, the prom turned out to be truly a moment to remember.
Inexperienced in planning a major activity, the juniors encountered a few problems. But early planning and the patience of advisers were instrumental in overcoming these difficulties. Through hard work and diligence of the various sub-committees, the prom enjoyed success.
