Juniors '77 - Community Projects Involve '77ers

The Black and Gold 1976

Community Projects Involve '77ers

Throughout the year, juniors kept themselves busy with various activities, attending social gatherings and participating in student body functions. Besides these, this year the Class of '77 extended their class projects into the community.

The first was an attempt to collect bags in the KKUA/Love's Bread Bag Contest. Competing with the other classes as well as other schools, the juniors were able to collect over 3600 bags.

Next came the Aloha Ainas-sponsored Campbell's Soup Label Contest which proved to be a well rewarding first place with 600 labels. All proceeds from the labels which were redeemed for money, was donated to Pohukaina School for the handicapped.

As another community service, a unique bed was created and entered into the annual Carole Kai Bed Race for the Variety Club. With the Wisteria Restaurant and KC Drive Inn sponsoring them, eight able-bodied junior boys pushed the bed down Kalakaua Avenue.
