The Black and Gold 1975

OIA East Baseball Champs Seek Second Crown

The 1975 edition of the Mick Varsity Baseball team was a good prospect to repeat as the OIA Eastern Division Championship. Early pre-season picks had the Micks battling Kaimuki for the top spot. Despite the lost of valuable starters from graduation, this year's team had the services of five returning starters, in addition to capable first year personnel.

Their season opened with an auspicious start by shutting out Roosevelt, 7-0. their next encounter, the Tigers blasted Kaiser, 9-3. They bested Farrington 6-2 before losing to division contender Kaimuki. The Micks bounced back 7-2 against first year team, Kalaheo.

With a third of the season over, the Micks found themselves tied with Kaimuki for first place, with identical records.

Reigning as last year's OIA East Champions, the Micks surely had their work cut out, but enthusiastic as any other team, the Micks had a little edge over any other team and that was their "PRIDE."
