On-the-Job Training Pays Off in Credit
Cooperative Education was a program in which the student could get "on the job" training in areas such as office, mechanics and home economics. The student could be in school all day or part of the day and work the rest of the day.
Students earned credit for 250 hours of work, turning in statements of earnings and job evaluations, recording hours worked after each pay period and attending seminars.
A supplement to the Cooperative Education was the Career Exploration Program which allowed students to learn about various fields and job openings. On the job experts came to speak on fields such as medicine, tourist industry, oceanography, engineering and education. Films and slides were shown with many presentations.
