The Black and Gold 1977
Terilyn Inoue and Paul Lam headed the Sophomore Class Special Projects Committee which sponsored numerous activities throughout the year.
They were responsible for the Class image, which included voting for the class song, motto, flower and mascot.
In December, the committee responsibilities included a t-shirt design contest and shirt sale.
The Hoss Elections came under their jurisdiction and in preparing for next year, they looked into possible companies and designs for the class ring.

Good planning results in victory
The sophs began preparing for Homecoming well in advance, determined not to run short of time.
Tracy Lee designed the sophomore tapestry "Tigers Movin' On" and workshops were scheduled a week and a half in their adviser Mrs. Ernell Young's room, the sophomores quickly finished their tapestry. The tapestry, constructed out of tissue paper and wire on a heavy cardboard backing, pictured a tiger engineering a train on the tracks through the goalposts on a football field. In reward for the time and effort they put into it, the sophs captured a proud third place for their tapestry, beating out the upperclassmen.
The sophomores also tied for first place trophy with the seniors in the Homecoming relays, that were held on the front lawn.
In their first major all school activity, the sophs displayed to the upperclassmen how much they had grown during their two and a half months at McKinley and were able to show themselves as "Super Sophs."
