The Black and Gold 1976
Progress Directs Tigers in Baseball Title Quest
Progressive improvement keyed the Tigers' drive for a fruitful two rounds of competition and the baseball crown.
Four points were stressed by Head Coach Raynor Minami to strengthen the reality of such goals. Three essential components included conditioning, spirit, and knowledge. When taken together the trio supported the final aspect, a winning tradition.
Individual veterans filled the Tigers' infield and has strong potential if they played well together. The outfield was fairly well set with seniors occupying two of the positions, while the pitchers and catchers looked forward to solid development and performances.
Lack of experience as a team seemed to be the biggest question as it carried 12 underclassmen and only five seniors. The need for confidence followed the lack of experience, but Coach Minami believed his players had the ability and could overcome.
Coach Minami also felt that the team would improve as the year work on, so success depended upon how well the players would develop and progress with each game.
Steady improvement, if united with experience and confidence, would mold the team into a big winner in '76.
