JayVee Wrestling

Under new coach Wade Isobe, the jayvee wrestlers had one of their finest seasons in OIA competition. The junior matmen managed a second place overall standing in the OIA in 1977.

The season was somewhat an easy one with their only loss to Kaiser 31-18, who placed first in the OIA.

Consecutive victories over Moanalua 60-7, Kaimuki, 37-23, and Radford 44-22 opened the season.

The Tigers then swept Kalani, 40-26 and after the loss to Kaiser, they went on to defeat Waialua 51-21.

The Tigers never saw a loss for the rest of the season as they whipped Waipahu, 51-15, crushed Pearl City 42-22, and walloped Leilehua 58-9.

Wins over Castle, 58-15 and Campbell, 34-25 capped the season.

In the OIA Individuals Tournament the Tigers took fourth place honors as Allan Nagamine and Peni Talamoa placed first in their weight divisions.

Ariel Catalan took second place honors with the Tigers winding up with a 10-1 record and runner-up in the public schools.
