An undermanned yet determined JV mat team, aced with a company of sophomores and recruits from feeder schools, underwent a respectable 8-2 season and captured third place in the OIA.
As the season opened, the young grapplers followed the varsity in defeating their first five opponents. Disappointments struck again with the clash against last year's JV champs, the Radford Rams and another loss to Kaiser, this year's OIA JV crown victors. A triumph over Castle, a close match against Leilehua, and a romp over the Pearl City Chargers concluded the team matches.
Hard work and strenuous practices paid off during the OIA JV Tournament hosted by McKinley on February 20-21.
The Mick matmen placed seven of their competitors in top five positions and one out of the seven copped first place in his respective category.
